Working at Tom’s is One Big Family

Here at Tom’s Truck Center, we have many tenured employee’s that have been with us for over TWO DECADES. Since we’re looking for new Service Manager’s for our Orange County and Los Angeles locations, we thought it would be a great idea to see why a few of our employee’s have stayed with Tom’s over the years.

Mike Conte – Senior Account Manager
How long have you been at Tom’s? I started at Tom’s Truck Center on July 3rd, 1993. So that would make it 26 years!
What major factor keeps you here at Tom’s? Tom’s has provided me with not only a job but when you’re talking 26 years, you’re talking a life. Quality Health insurance, Solid vacation plan and the 401K plan have also contributed to my lengthy tenure.
Have you learned any important skills here at Tom’s? Sure. Any job function requires a certain skill set. You work at that every day in trying to improve. But no matter how good your skill set might be, you also need the cohesion and solidarity inside the organization. That support helps to create the synergy and singleness of purpose, if you will, to be successful and flourish. Tom’s has always provided that support.
What do you like best about working at Tom’s?
The everyday challenge of commercial truck sales can be fun and rewarding. Every opportunity and transaction comes with its own uniqueness which helps in keeping things fresh and exciting. Wait, isn’t that a Kool and the Gang song?
What advice would you give to someone thinking about applying to work here at Tom’s?

Anthony Gonzalez – Director of Parts Sales

How long have you been at Tom’s? 22 years!
What major factor keeps you here at Tom’s? The trust ownership has with management and all the employees.
Have you learned any important skills here at Tom’s? I honed in on my sales and management skills.
What do you like best about working at Tom’s? I love the teamwork!
What advice would you give to someone thinking about applying to work here at Tom’s? If you love any of the 4 things I mentioned above, this is the place for you.

Brad Skarsten – Sales Manager

How long have you been at Tom’s?  29 years and 4 months.
What major factor keeps you here at Tom’s? The people are great, and environment is very friendly.
Have you learned any important skills here at Tom’s? I have learned that when we work together there is nothing we can not accomplish.
What do you like best about working at Tom’s? I would still say the people and the environment.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about applying to work here at Tom’s? DO IT!

Mike Halsne – Service Advisor

How long have you been at Tom’s? Just about 25 1/2 years.
What major factor keeps you here at Tom’s? The family atmosphere!
Have you learned any important skills here at Tom’s? Solving problems of all sorts. Multitasking as well.
What do you like best about working at Tom’s?  The challenge of helping customers service and repair their trucks.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about applying to work here at Tom’s? Do it!

OJ Manriquez – Service Advisor

How long have you been at Tom’s? Just over 22 years.
What major factor keeps you here at Tom’s? That each day is a new experience, a new challenge.
Have you learned any important skills here at Tom’s? Yes, plenty! But none that I can think of off hand.
What do you like best about working at Tom’s? The people I work with and the fact that everybody has a good relationship with each other. As if we’re one big family.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about applying to work here at Tom’s? If you work hard and do your best, you’ll be a part of this family forever.

Patricia Hill – Parts Training Manager

 How long have you been at Tom’s? I’ve been with Tom’s 26 Years
What major factor keeps you here at Tom’s? The people I work with on a daily basis are the best part.
Have you learned any important skills here at Tom’s?
Have Patience because you will need it!
What do you like best about working at Tom’s?
My work within the Parts Department and the people I work with.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about applying to work here at Tom’s? Really consider Tom’s Truck Center, because you will not find another place to work that you will enjoy as much.
